If you only remember one thing: your house PIC is always the first person to tell.
Rent
RM170 a month, paid by the 25th.
All payments go through UM ePay, the University's own portal. Nobody from RKS collects cash, and nobody should ever ask you for it.
How to pay on UM ePay
- Go to epay.um.edu.my.
- Choose payment by category.
- Choose Penginapan Rumah Mahasiswa.
- Set the category to student.
- Fill in the details and press Pay Now.
Label every payment the same way
Your name, your house and the month, for example YOUR NAME RKS 3 OCTOBER. Then send the receipt to your house PIC. If the rate ever changes, JSEPP gives 60 days' notice first.
Repairs
Something broken? Tell your PIC.
A fan, a light, the water pump. You do not need to find a contractor or call the University yourself. This is the route every repair takes.
A problem with another resident
Start with your PIC.
Most things are settled in the house. Anything your PIC cannot settle goes to the JKRKS Pengerusi and Timbalan Pengerusi, the committee chair and deputy.
How long you stay
One session at a time.
A place is for one academic session. JKRKS members may stay for up to two. Check in and check out are run by JKRKS through your house PIC.
