This website knows almost nothing about you.
That is a design decision, not a slogan, and this page is written so you can check it. The application form is a different matter, because it has to collect a great deal, and the second half of this page is about that.
Reading this site
No account, no tracking, no third party.
What we do not do
- No analytics of any kind. Not Google Analytics, not a self hosted one, not a pixel
- No cookies. Not one
- No sign up, no login, no newsletter, no contact form
- No advertising, and nothing on this site is sold to anyone
- No embedded video, map, font or script from another company. Every file the page loads comes from rksum.my
The fonts were served by Google until 12 August 2026, which sent your address to Google on every page load. They are now served from this domain, and the build refuses to publish if anyone puts them back.
What does happen
Your language choice
Stored on your own device so the site opens in the language you picked. It never leaves your device and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Server logs
Our web host records the standard access log every web server keeps: the address your request came from, the time, the page, and which browser. We do not read it for anything, we do not build profiles from it, and nothing on the site links it to a person. We cannot switch it off, so it is disclosed here rather than left out.
The score calculator
Everything you type stays in the browser tab and is gone when you close it. It is not saved to your device, not sent to JKRKS, and we cannot tell you used the page.
Applying for a room
The form is a different thing, and it collects a lot.
Applications are taken on a Google Form, not on this site. Opening it leaves rksum.my and everything below starts to apply. You are told this before you click, and none of it happens if you never apply.
What is collected
- Your name, siswamail address, matric number and identity card number
- Your faculty, programme and year of study
- Household income, household composition, and the assistance your household receives
- The area your family lives in, and how long the journey to UM takes
- The documents you upload, which include your identity card, proof of income and, where they apply to you, medical, disability, bereavement and disaster documents
Some of that is sensitive personal data under section 40 of the Act, which is why it is only ever handled by the people named below and is never published, quoted or discussed outside the committee.
Who sees it, and for how long
Why we hold it
To score your application against the published rubric, to check what you declared against your documents, and to run check-in if you are offered a place.
Who reads it
The Pengerusi, the Timbalan Pengerusi and the Setiausaha of JKRKS. Your house PIC sees only what they need for check-in, and never your household finances.
Who does not
Other applicants, other residents, and the wider committee. Nothing is posted in any WhatsApp group. JSEPP receives only the final list of residents, not your application.
How long
Unsuccessful applications and their documents are deleted at the end of the session. Resident records are kept for the tenancy and one session after it, because the agreement and the deposit require it.
Google, and what that means
The form runs on Google Forms and the answers sit in Google Drive under a University account. Google processes that data on our behalf under its own terms, and it may be stored on servers outside Malaysia. We chose it because the committee changes every year and a University account survives that, where a system built by one student does not. If you would rather not use Google at all, say so before applications close and JKRKS will arrange another way to submit.
What you can ask for
- A copy of what we hold about you
- A correction, if something is wrong. There is also a 48 hour window after results for exactly this
- Deletion of your application. If you ask before results, the application is withdrawn with it
- To withdraw consent, which withdraws the application, since we cannot assess one without the data in it
How to ask
Through Kesatuan Mahasiswa Universiti Malaya, addressed to the Setiausaha JKRKS. If you live in an RKS house, your house PIC will pass it on.
This notice is written under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, Akta 709. It has been written to be accurate and readable rather than to be exhaustive, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If anything here conflicts with University policy or with the tenancy agreement you signed, those documents take precedence and we will correct this page.
How to check any of this. Open the page source. There is no build step hiding anything: the stylesheet, the three scripts and the fonts are the only files a page loads, all of them from rksum.my. The calculator is about 250 lines and contains no network call at all.
